The RBP was designed to deliver up to x 10 6 m 3 /mo (3, ac-ft/mo) of fresh water from the Nueces River, above the Calallen Dam, a saltwater barrier, to the upper Rincon Bayou [9], [22]. The San Antonio and Guadalupe are the westernmost rivers within the East Texas Gulf freshwater ecoregion, which includes all the remaining Texas rivers to the east (Abell et al. ). The Guadalupe River is considered to be particularly important in this ecoregion because of the number of endemic species, mostly associated with the karst

A brief summary of the major river basins in Texas is provided below. Click on the river basin name for additional information related to that basin. There are eight designated coastal basins in Texas: the Neches-Trinity, Trinity-San Jacinto, San Jacinto-Brazos, Brazos-Colorado, Colorado-Lavaca, Lavaca-Guadalupe, San Antonio-Nueces, and Nueces Reliable water sources are central to human and environmental health.

In south Texas, USA, the Nueces River Basin (NRB) directly or indirectly plays that important role for many counties. Several NRB stream segments are designated as ecologically significant because they serve crucial hydrologic, ecologic, and biologic functions. The hydrologically significant streams recharge the Edwards   Clean Rivers Program Partner Contact List.
